Homebound Delivery

Do you know someone who is a LME Library District resident, unable to visit the library on their own and would like to have a volunteer deliver books, movies or music CDs to their home?

Please contact the library at 385-4540 for homebound delivery service.

Who is qualified for this service?

Lillie M. Evans Library’s Home Delivery service provides library materials to residents who are unable to visit the library due to temporary or long-term physical illness or disability.  Home Delivery patrons must reside within the LME Library District to be eligible for this service.  All circulation policies apply.  Verification from a physician, social worker or registered nurse may be requested.

What Library materials are available and what is the cost?

Materials available for delivery include all LME Library materials with the exception of “New” items and popular DVDs, up to 20 items each month. You may request specific titles or books by your favorite authors, subject to availability. Materials will be selected for you based on the reading interests you indicate to the Home Delivery Coordinator. By participating in the program, you agree that the library will keep track of the titles we have checked out for you previously. However, you may receive titles you have already read. This is a free service provided by library staff and volunteers.

When are books delivered?

Deliveries are made the first Friday of each month by dedicated library volunteers. At the same time, volunteers will collect materials from last month to return to the library.

How do I sign up?

Please call LME Library at 385-4540.

What are my other options?

As an alternative to this program, you may prefer to have library materials selected and delivered by a friend or family member. With your written permission, library staff can authorize use of your card by a person of your choice.

Can I volunteer with the Home Delivery program?

Yes, Home Delivery requires many volunteers to help with book selection, check out, and delivery. Please call the Library at 385-4540 if you are interested in helping with this service.

How to Hold Books
Get the materials you want using holds.  The holds process allows you to reserve books, DVDs or other materials.  Placing holds in RSA Cat gives you access to over 2.6 million items!

How do I place a hold?

Login to the RSACat catalog (upper right corner of the catalog) using your library barcode and PIN (password). After you login, your name will replace the login boxes. (You can place holds without logging in but you will be asked to supply login information for each item.)

Search the catalog for the material in which you are interested.  The search results page will appear.

Click on a blue Details button or the item title to display more information about the item you selected.

On the Item Details screen, click on the Place Hold link.

On the Place Hold screen, you can:

  • Change your Pickup Library.
  • Set an expiration date after which you no longer want to receive the item.
  • Set a suspension start and end date if you will be out of town and do not want your hold filled during a certain period.

Click on the Place Hold button to complete your hold.

You will see a message if your hold is successfully placed or a notification if the hold is not allowed.  Not all items are eligible for holds.

Ask a librarian for help with any questions about our catalog.

These are all subscription databases and to use them, you need a valid LME Library card.  Click on the databases above to login  You will need your library card ID (starts with a D) and your RSAcat PIN/Password. RSAcat and ebooks/eaudios

Our library catalog, RSAcat, has two different eBook & eAudioBook integrated vendors: OverDrive and Baker & Taylor.  If you have ever downloaded an eBook from the Alliance Digital Media Library (ADML) site, you have used OverDrive.  If you have ever downloaded an eBook from the EreadIllinois site, you have used Baker & Taylor.
